The Art of Drilling Core

The “Art of Drilling Core” è il metodo di ricerca, estrazione e manomissione delle radici culturali e musicali ideato dai Tecno Zaclén. Esso appartiene all’umanità e i Tecno Zaclen esortano a usarlo. Il frame antropologico su cui è stato sperimentato è la Romagna, ma ogni parallelo e meridiano (anche artificiali), vanno bene, una volta accettato il template. La tesi è che se si scava nel sottoterra delle tradizioni o nei ricordi più profondi di ognuno sia facile trovare un “blues”: delle radici spezzate, un canto capovolto e che non trova voce. Noi lo abbiamo scovato nella cantilena che addormenta il bambino (Ninna Nanna), nella camera di scoppio di un trattore (Minimo Minimo), nelle ugole delle giovani donne che portano al fiume i panni da lavare (Doman l’è Festa), così come nelle metafisiche takes dell’antropologo Alan Lomax (l’uomo che registrò il mondo): fissate su nastro magnetico in ogni angolo della Terra (Romagna compresa).  L’importante è il libero rammendo che, chicchessia, può fare di questi reperti ottenuti “carotando il nucleo”: forzando la serratura e sprigionando qualcosa di già esistito che può tornare a propagarsi sotto nuova forma. The Art of Drilling Core è il metodo grazie al quale le voci sepolte delle tradizioni tornano a reclamare il proprio circuito d’ascolto. In tale senso Tecno Zaclén si configura come un agente evocativo che reperta e rimasterizza il passato, dissodandolo e riportandolo alla luce. Favorendo la genesi di nuovi frutti.

The “Art of Drilling Core” is the method of researching, extracting, and altering cultural and musical roots conceived by Tecno Zaclén. It belongs to humanity, and Tecno Zaclén encourage everyone to use it. While its anthropological frame of reference is Romagna, the method is adaptable to any latitude and longitude (even artificial ones) once the template is embraced.

The core thesis is that if one delves deep into the underground of traditions or the innermost memories of individuals, it’s easy to uncover a “blues”: broken roots, an inverted song searching for a voice. We discovered it in the lullaby that lulls a child to sleep (Ninna Nanna), in the combustion chamber of a tractor (Minimo Minimo), in the voices of young women washing clothes by the river (Doman l’è Festa), and in the metaphysical recordings of anthropologist Alan Lomax—the man who captured the world on magnetic tape, preserving sounds from every corner of the Earth (Romagna included). What matters most is the free mending that anyone can perform on these artifacts obtained by “drilling core”: unlocking the vault and releasing something that once existed, allowing it to propagate anew in a transformed form. The Art of Drilling Core is the method by which the buried voices of traditions reclaim their listening circuits. In this sense, Tecno Zaclén act as evocative agents who uncover and remaster the past, tilling the soil and bringing it back into the light—nurturing the genesis of new fruits.
